Heinrich Hermann Buetow

Heinrich was born 9 October 1847 in Gross Duebsow. He was the second son of Martin Heinrich Buetow and Friederike Nipkow. Heinrich served in the Prussian Army during the Franko / Prussian war ( 1870 ). He had turned 18 in 1865 and per custom ( Military Law ) probably entered the army at that time. He probably was in the Army and may have served  in the Austrian / Prussian war of 1866.

Heinrich returned to Gross Duebsow and married Wilhelmine Henriette Albrecht (born 1858)on 22. November 1874 . Albertine was the daughter of Innkeeper and homeowner Karl Gottlieb Albrecht and Albertine Christiane Fraenzke. The Albrecht and Fraenzke families seem to have been established families in Gross Duebsow. There were 71 Albrecht and 33 Fraenzke births in Gross Duebsow between 1832 and 1875.

Albertine was only sixteen when Heinrich married her. Their first child Paul Ferdinand was born 31 August 1875. Paul however, passed away only 4 month later on 29 December 1875.

Their second child Franz August Ferdinand was born 26 December 1876. Franz lived to maturity and migrated with his parents to Chicago, Illinois. Their third son, August Otto was born on 9 March 1880. He died after only two month. The next son, Ernst Emil was born on 28 October 1882, he also passed away after only two month. The fifed son, Otto Karl, born on 18 November 1883 lived to maturity. The sixth Son, Emil Karl, died after six month. The seventh son, Max Franz Paul lived to maturity.

Heinrich and Albertine had eleven children. Six of these children ( all males ) reached maturity. The last three sons were born in Chicago, Illinois, the other were born in Gross Duebsow, Pomerania, Prussia.

In 1875 Heinrich was listed as a Quarter Farmer which means, he owned a farm with 11,6 acres. From 1876 through 1883 Heinrich was listed as a homeowner but in 1888 Heinrich was listed as a laborer. Live did not go well for Heinrich and Albertine. On 6 february 1892 their first and only daughter Meta Frieda Marie died at the age of 6 month. Heinrich and Albertine decided to look for a better live

Heinrich, Albertine and their three surviving sons, Franz, Otto and Max, migrated to Chicago, Illinois in 1892. Efforts to find their migration documents in Germany and the United States have so far been unsuccessful. The family, however, does appear in the 1900 United States Census for Cook County ( Chicago ) Illinois. In that Census both, Heinrich and Franz had anglicized their names to Henry and Frank. On the 1900 census both, Henry and Frank were listed as laborers.

After Heinrich and Albertine migrated to Chicago they had three more sons ( all survived to maturity ), William, born June 1894, Edward, born 8 November 1896 and Herman Charles, born 9 July 1899.

Heinrich passed away on 9 June 1906 and was buried in Concordia Cemetery, Cook County, Illinois. Albertine continued to live in Chicago until her death on 10 April 1932. She is also buried in the Concordia Cemetery, Cook County, Illinois.
